South Shore Kings captain Chris Wagner
has been named 2009-10 Eastern Junior Hockey
League MVP and Offensive Player of the Year. Wagner, a 6'0 190 lbs forward will
attend Colgate University next
season on a hockey scholarship. This season Chirs also tied the Eastern Junior Hockey League
single season scoring record this year recording 34 goals, 49 assist for 83 points in 44 games. A shorthanded goal,
his 34th of the year, brought his point total to 83 and tied him with Paul
Thompson's (UNH/ New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs) total in the 2007-08 season. No
player in league history had recorded as many points as Thompson or Wagner in
the seventeen year history of the EJHL.
Wagner, the team captain, missed only one game this season
and has been held scoreless only six times. He scored five points in one game
on two separate occasions: on September 20 against the Capital District Selects
and on September 27 against the Springfield Pics. Wagner enjoyed a 17-game
point scoring streak stretching from November 18 until February 21, during
which he netted 19 goals and recorded 29 assists.
Chris, a native of Walpole, MA, is a second-year player with
the South Shore Kings and registered 34 points (20 goals, 14 assists) in 38
games as a rookie in the 2008-09 season. He will play for the Colgate
University Raiders in the fall. Congratulations to Chris and his family!
