Foxboro, MA- South Shore Kings defenseman Nolan Descoteaux has committed to play for Rochester Institute of Technology in the fall.

Descoteaux is in his second year with the Kings and quickly established himself as one of the Eastern Junior Hockey League’s premier offensive defenseman. As a rookie, he placed second on the team and third in the league in scoring with 10 goals and 25 assists. He currently leads the EJHL in scoring among defensemen with 11 goals and 18 assists.

“Once I visited RIT, I knew it was a great fit for me,” said Descoteaux. “They’re a real up-and-coming program, but what really swayed me was the academic programs. I wanted to go somewhere with more than just a good hockey team.”

Prior to joining the Kings, Descoteaux attended Milton (MA) Academy, where he played for the previous four years.

“Coming out of Milton, I didn’t have very many options,” he noted. “[Then coaches] Mike Lalor and Peter Ward wanted me, and not having anywhere else to go, I accepted and now I couldn’t have asked for anything else.”

“Right now, it all seems like a dream, but I know a wake-up call is just around the corner,” he continued. “My game hasn’t changed since I committed, and now that it’s out of the way, I can just focus on making my team better. I wouldn’t have this opportunity if not for my teammates.”

Nolan, a native of Dallas, TX, is the son of Doug and Gemma Descoteaux. He is the third player on the Kings to commit to a Division One college this season.
